Nishi Kaigan Iaido Dojo is a traditional martial arts school in Berkeley, Alameda County, focused on the Japanese sword art of iaido. We teach Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu, a classical style rooted in the heart of Japanese culture, and welcome students at every level, including those with no martial arts background.
Our instruction focuses on patient, respectful guidance, so students build both physical technique and mental focus that carries into everyday life. Our sensei is known for being passionate, knowledgeable, kind and wise, and our senpai are supportive of every new student.
