About
Suigetsukan offers self-defense, discipline, and a welcoming community, and we bring all three to every class in Oakland's Merritt neighborhood. We're a non-profit martial arts school that has been teaching since 1991, and our students train in Jujitsu, Aikido, Japanese sword work, and Wing Chun Kung Fu.
Our training focuses on practical skills: throws, rolls, and escapes from holds on your arms, hands, and chest, so you learn to keep yourself safe. Students of all ages are welcome, and our instructors are known for their great values and their care for every student.
Our practice has a family feel, and many students have trained with us for years, building lasting friendships along the way. Serving students across Oakland and the East Bay, we're a short walk from Lake Merritt.
