At Selam Restaurant, we bring the flavors of East Africa to Oakland's Hoover/Foster neighborhood and the wider East Bay, serving hearty, home-style Eritrean dishes in a warm, welcoming space. We're known for bold, spiced dishes like Quanta Firfir, cooked in a tangy tomato sauce, and a vegetable combo that many guests come back for again and again.
Our habesha injera is flown in from East Africa, and we also offer gluten-free injera for guests who need it. Our kitchen is open and our cook is happy to chat while she prepares your meal, so you can see how everything is made.
