About
For traditional Japanese karate in Haight Ashbury, San Francisco, San Francisco Shotokan Karate is here to help you train with confidence at any level. We teach authentic Shotokan karate built on the long lineage that comes from Japan, with a structured mix of basics, forms and controlled sparring.
Our instructors bring years of experience and are approachable whether you are stepping onto the mat for the first time or returning after a long break. Students from white belt to black belt train with enthusiasm and genuine camaraderie, and many of us think of the dojo as a family.
Through our affiliation with sister dojos across the Bay Area and around the world, you can continue your training wherever you go. Along the way you will build mindfulness, fitness, assertiveness and practical self-defense skills, all at a value we are proud to offer.
Stop by and join a class to see if our dojo is the right fit for you.
