About
Shepherd Canyon families and across Oakland and the East Bay turn to Han Martial Arts for taekwondo, judo and martial arts classes that build confidence, discipline and self-defense skills. Our masters bring a shared approach to teaching and encouraging students, offering specific praise that keeps kids motivated without singling anyone out.
With often two to four black belt instructors in each class, every student is addressed by name, and the ratio keeps the attention personal. We put as much emphasis on respect and life skills as we do on technique, and we never berate children for mistakes; instead, we hold up students who are showing the qualities we want to see.
Many of our families have been with us for years, and the friendships and bonds our students form here become part of a community we're proud to call our family village.
